Who doesn’t love another reader success story? It’s a thing of beauty to read one’s words when they are on the path and this is a story of a reader who is doing just that.
The #1 reason why most people feel like they are lost in life is simple and obvious.
They have NO DIRECTION.
They don’t know what they want.
They’ve just been doing what everyone else is doing and/or what others expect them to do.
This was the case of Peter, whose story you will read below. He’s been doing that for years until one day, he had that turning point.
That point where once you turn the corner, you can never go back. Things are never the same again. He aptly describes this in his story below and suffice to say, judging from the title of this article, you know what’s going to happen next.
It’s really a terrific story because it “captures” that exhilarating feeling one gets when instead of just traveling around in circles or drifting aimlessly in the big sea we call life, we have a destination.
A course to plot.
The wheel on the ship is turned with purpose and confidence and the engines are turned on full power. The route is drawn and we head into the open sea with a feeling that can never be described, only experienced individually.
I hope by the time you read this, if you have a destination such as Peter, you’ll get to re-experience that feeling of freshness in the beginning of your journey and let it motivate you even more and for those of you who haven’t found that direction, hopefully get a glimpse of what it’s like to FINALLY know what to shoot for, and hopefully get that to motivate you to do just that for yourself.
I’ve sent a list of questions to help frame Peter’s story and below are his answers verbatim (I added some paragraph spacing here and there to make it easier to read).
I want to thank Peter for contacting me first 4 months ago to let me know how his life has changed and for taking the time to answer these questions so others will benefit from his experience and knowledge. I really appreciate it.

2. How did you come to find BrianKim.net?
I'm sorry for not recalling precisely how I found your website. Had been reading your work for some months before contacting you. I do remember at that time surfing the Internet for self improvement and Napoleon Hill.
3. You mentioned in your email that you had been standing still for a while with lack of direction. Can you please elaborate on that to help set the scene so we can understand where you were coming from?
Actually Brian, up to recently, I never had a big plan with my life. Never knew what (or who) I wanted to become. Grew up on the streets of a very small village, went to school because they made me, and worked to earn a living and got married because everybody else did as well. But around age 28 something happened that caused a turning point. From there on I started to check out all things that I THOUGHT I knew, to see if they were true. Dropped all that wasn't and started studying Life: about men, astronomy, evolution, sociology, paleontology, anthropology, theology, psychology and any other 'ologies' you can think of. All in investigating the big picture and about what the f**k I was doing here.
And then one morning I woke up wishing 'I had taken the
blue pill'...
Spent 6 weeks in a hospital with medication and it took several more weeks of therapy to recover from this '
red pill depression'.
Before age 28 I was oblivious to the meaning of life. Love my parents, but they were far too busy with just making a living to show me anything else but how to merely do the same. They owned a restaurant, a hotel, a bar and a snack bar and my father did all the cooking . But when I left home the only food I knew to prepare were French Fries and boiled eggs. They were so busy, dad even 'forgot' to teach me how to cook...
And school only trains in how to be a skilled employee.
After physically recovering from the 'red pill' I went back into earning a living as the bills piled up. I started a new life in Belgium, in Portugal, back to Holland, in DFW/Texas/USA and back to Holland. Did sales, management, engineering, surveying, construction, repairing, P&O, installing, garbage collection, skid stacking, maintenance, transport, retail, import, export, HRM, distribution, and then some. But the 'should have taken the blue pill' feeling kept coming back. Where ever and when ever.
So as long as I didn't know what else to do, I kept on job hopping in merely making a living and at the same time gaining even more experience. Heavily bored again I kindly asked my last employer to NOT renew the contract.
This was about the same period as when I discovered your website...
4. You mentioned reading The Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich and Think and Grow Rich as well as the other information on the site (article,s M.I.T.s) changed all that. Can you please elaborate on that and give us some details?
... and then I read lots of your articles and MIT's, and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Also stumbled upon RebelZen.
With working out your tips and advice, and that of Napoleon Hill and RebelZen (and several conversations with a dear friend), it all came together and started to make sense again. It's exactly as you say; there is lots of WHAT to do out there, but none about HOW to do it. That's why I can say: Love you man!!
For showing me HOW to find WHAT I WANT. From there on it's easy to find HOW to GET THERE.
5. You’re back on track now with new direction and you mentioned 4 great things coming up in your life. Do you mind sharing them with us?
1 - I hate putting up someone I love with my being lost all the time. That's why I always said to never marry again. But now that I have a direction and a goal I am more then happy going there, together with the one I love. Next week we'll be visiting City Hall in setting the date for our marriage!
2 - we bought a new home in an inspiring city we both love
3 - quit my daytime job as of October 1, 2009
4- finally going to write the book that has been on my mind for 15 years now
6. Congratulations! Out of curiosity, do you mind telling us a little bit more about the book you’ve been wanting to write and how you managed to create the time, money and space to do it?
With having lived in 4 different countries, loved 6 women with 3 different nationalities, getting married for the 2nd time, recently moved for the 24th time. With working as GM but also as garbage man. As sales engineer but also as skid stacker. As electronic engineer and also as fish distributor. With all these varieties of jobs, social statuses, studies, relations, experience and places visited you'll understand I have seen a lot and have some stories to tell. My book will be a philosophy/spiritual novel. In between the lines I'll weave my look upon a world that could be. The story is about to take place in a world very similar to ours but where
men are still men, where state and religion are separated, and death no longer is something to fear for. I'll make it a novel to reach a wide audience. But on the website (released at the same time), I can explain my philosophy to people interested in it.
In Holland we have a high standard when it comes to social security. With getting unemployed, you'll keep 75% of your last salary for a period of 3 months. After that it comes down to 70% for an extended period of time depending on the number of years you worked before getting unemployed. After 6 months of unemployment you are obligated to accept any job offered.
When it comes to time and money in writing my book: together with the unemployment office we've come to an arrangement in setting up 2 businesses. I have been granted 12 weeks in setting up my own writing/publishing and online business, and then another 6 months to get the businesses started and generate money. All this time I will keep my unemployment benefit. On the other hand, my fiancee makes nice money and is willing to support me for what ever I'm short for the next 2 years. That's the maximum time I give myself for writing my book.
Concerning writing space, in our new home, I confiscated the spare bedroom and turned it into my office.
7. How does it feel having new direction and having accomplished these great milestones in your life?
I could jot down all positive emotions but Life is about feeling happy... and I'm a happy camper... you bet!!
8. For those reading who might be experiencing the “drift” and lack of direction in their lives, what kind of advice can you give to them to help them snap out of it and take the first steps in setting new direction for their lives?
I think, of all people, you are the best in giving such advice!!
That leaves me with:
First step: Find out with Brian Kim's work WHAT you like in life, or WHAT it is you are good at and don't stop until you know WHAT you WANT.
Second: Buy his books, read the rest of his articles, subscribe to the M.I.T's and find out HOW to achieve it.
Third: Then, open your mind, stop holding back, focus on what you want, and DO IT!
9. What kind of major lessons have you learned on your journey so far?
"The moment you commit and quit holding back, all sorts of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance will rise up to help you. The simple act of commitment is a powerful magnet for help." ---Napoleon Hill
I had this quote hanging in my USA office from 2001 - 2004. So I knew about Napoleon Hill before I found your site and before reading Think and Grow Rich.
I learned all lessons I need in being able to get where I want to go. All I needed to know was WHERE to go. Your work helped me finding exactly that.
Now that I've quit holding back, all predictions mentioned in the above quote are taking place. Life is beautiful!!
10. Is there anything else you’d like to share that you didn’t get a chance to in your responses to the previous questions?
I left the USA in 2004 and haven't spoken/written a lot of English in between. That's one of the reasons why it takes some time to reply.
In between replying to #6 I read your article about How to Really make Money Online. In #6 I mentioned an online store but this is the second time in 1 week that I read about the 'Free' concept and building a market from there. Initially I wanted to create/translate (Brian Kim) e-books and start a partnerships with the Dutch version of Amazon.com in order to generate some income while I'm writing. But now I maybe need to rethink my strategy. With #9 in mind, help should be on its way. Perhaps I can start a hype around the nature of my upcoming book. I have a very powerful title and it alone will start people talking.
Feel free to share any ideas coming to your mind with reading my story.
Feel free as well to let me know if you have any more questions.
Warm Regards,
Peter.
I want to thank Peter again for taking the time to write the answers to these questions. In the midst of our email correspondence, he had a lot going on in his life but he kept his promise to answer these questions and for that, I really appreciate it.
Peter’s story is one that I think will resonate with a lot of people.
Everyone has that “moment” where they snap out of it and just start to question everything around them and go on this journey to find their own path. It’s very easy to feel lost on that journey because it hits you pretty hard because it’s so new. It’s like adjusting your eyes to sunlight after you’ve been in a pitch black cave for 20+ years.
But as time goes by and you gather information from various sources, you WILL find your own path.
You WILL.
And when you do, it’s like color is added to your world. You think the world you saw before was color, but it really wasn’t. It was black and white. Now you see things in a whole new way and it’s exhilarating.
And I think Peter brings up a wonderful quote that helps you “jump” when you find your path.
"The moment you commit and quit holding back, all sorts of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance will rise up to help you. The simple act of commitment is a powerful magnet for help." - Napoleon Hill
It reminds me of this quote as well which basically says the same thing but with more words.
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back-- Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now." – Goethe
And as you can see from Peter’s story and from his own words, the predictions are taking place for him just as these quotes have said.
I can take the time here to logically explain why that is so but it’s like trying to explain why things fall when you throw them up on Earth.
It’s because of gravity.
Now do any of us know EXACTLY how gravity works? Yeah, you can recite a textbook definition but that doesn’t mean you truly know.
Moreover, do you HAVE to know how gravity works in order for it to work?
Do you HAVE to know how gravity works for a ball to come down when you throw it up?
NO.
You just have to throw the ball up in the air.
The same thing here.
You just have to COMMIT and QUIT HOLDING BACK.
Throw the ball up in the air - pursue the path you’ve discovered for yourself.
Then, help will come in many ways you never thought possible.
But until you have a path to commit to, it’s all moot.
That’s where Peter’s answer to question 8 comes into play.
8. For those reading who might be experiencing the “drift” and lack of direction in their lives, what kind of advice can you give to them to help them snap out of it and take the first steps in setting new direction for their lives?
I think, of all people, you are the best in giving such advice!!

There it is right there. The information on this site has helped SO MANY people find their OWN path in life and COMMIT to it.
If you haven’t signed up for the M.I.T.’s, do so. Read the articles. Read the books,
The Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich (you get a free copy of Think and Grow Rich as a bonus if you haven’t yet read that)
How to Finally Find What You Love to Do and Get Paid for Doing It: The DEFINITIVE Guide to Finding and Successfully Pursuing Your Passion
Some of you may be thinking this is a shameless plug on my part so to those who are thinking that, let me ask you a question.
If you had the cure for cancer, would you keep it to yourself and not tell anybody about it?
OF COURSE NOT.
That would be morally irresponsible of you if you did.
Why would you continue to let others suffer when you have the solution to their problems?
The same thing here.
It would be morally irresponsible of me not to let people know about the books on this site because it has helped so many people. It has ended so much suffering, especially for those who feel like they are chasing their tails, who can’t seem to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together to see everything clearly. You only need to read success stories like these and other testimonials to realize it.
Bottom line:
Find what you want in life and when you do, COMMIT. Quit holding back.
And when you do that, you’ll come to the same realization Peter did and I quote:
“Life is beautiful!!”
It certainly is.
And full too.
