A reader recently emailed me his journey of his thoughts and feelings when he first discovered the world of self improvement. After reading it, I found it to be very reflective of what everyone feels when they first discovered the world of self improvement (myself included) so I asked him if I could post what he wrote here so that the whole world could read it as well and he agreed. My hopes are that when readers read it, they will feel compelled to venture into this world if they had not already done so themselves.

“Below is how grateful I am to you and all that you have done and do. Hopefully it will find a spot in your long list of success stories that you already have.

The Road of Success

It has been said, that you can’t teach old dogs new tricks, but from my own personal experience I have found that, that statement is totally untrue.

I, a middle aged man, almost a year ago, on a ship without a sail, drifting on the ocean of life going where ever the current led me.

I was aimlessly surfing the Web one night. Alone, in the dark in my living room, where the only thing I was using for light was beaming from the monitor of my computer. It was here that I stumbled across some road.

I did not know where it led but I curiously proceeded, taking careful steps because of the unknown. But what I did not realize then, but I do now, was that I was about to embark onto a journey that I am on to this very day.

As I continued to walk forward onto this road, it led me into world that I did know existed. Like walking through a jungle and finding a whole world hidden. Not only did I find a new world, I also found treasure in it too!

It was a world that had a wealth of information, treasures that was beyond my comprehension. They were always there but for some reason, they were hidden from me.

That you can find what you love to do and do it for a living! Then there were gold nuggets that made you to think and grow rich! Also to my surprise one treasure site led to another and another. What ever you needed was there, physical health, financial wealth, staying power in the midst of adversity! Whatever it was, just use the treasure and you will lack for nothing! For this treasure of knowledge became our power to obtain, to overcome to succeed in every situation!

My old ways and tradition did not keep me from continuing onto this road. How can I after seeing the grandeur of this treasure, turn back? Never! I would be a fool to stop!

I may never be in full possession of it all but since I have caught a glimpse of its glory. I will never turn back because it has begun the metamorphosis of positive change in my life and I will never be the same again.

So today, a year later I’m not that over the hill middle aged man drifting at sea with a ship without a sail any more. But a man with a youthful spirit that is “The Master of his fate, The Captain of his soul/ship”. Working vigorously to take possession and use all of the treasure I have found there in this new world.â€�

Probably one of the greatest pleasures in reading is when you can identify with the author, and it’s as if you’ve made a direct connection with the author through his written words and I think for those who have stepped into the world of self improvement, you have made that connection by reading these words today.

You feel yourself nodding along and remembering how it was like when you were first caught a glimpse into the world of self improvement and the part where I think everyone agrees with has to be among the following lines.

“How can I after seeing the grandeur of this treasure, turn back? Never! I would be a fool to stop!� It almost sounds like it’s coming from a play by Shakespeare
