Several of my newsletter subscribers have been asking questions on the status of Book #2 so I thought I’d write a quick post on it.
As you know, I’m keeping the subject of the book under wraps for various reasons. But what I can tell you right now is that I’m almost done with the research phase of the process. I’ve collected and read articles on the web and numerous books pertaining to the subject, talked with experts and with other people to slowly assemble my “mound” of information. My research will probably be finished by the end of next month.
The second phase is my favorite part. It’s absorbing all the research information in my head and letting my mind sort it all out and analyze it. That’s just how my mind works naturally. For those of you who have taken the Myer Briggs test, I come out as an INTP, the same personality type as Einstein and Newton – and these are men who have similar traits - they absorb mounds of information and try to make sense of it all, to analyze it, unify it, and to bring ideas to a whole new level.
That phase involves me going over the research and playing with it leisurely in my head until inspiration hits or I start getting epiphanies and new ideas that will add to the “mound” of the information. These new insights will also start helping me “structure” the mound of information, to make it more orderly, more logical, to have it flow and also help to cut off any extraneous fat as well.
When it comes to books, one of my pet peeves are authors who have little “meat” in their books and just choose to write “filler” material. I absolutely hate that. I really do. It’s one of my greatest pet peeves and in no way will my book be in that regard. It will have plenty of meat but not so much that it’s too overwhelming or hard to understand. It will be solid meat that’s lean, easy to understand, and will work when applied. The ultimate goal of the second phase is to reshape, add, and subtract from the mound of research to come up with the “meat” of the idea, the inner core, the substance and to take out all the fluff.
After that, comes the writing of the “meat”, making sure that it’s clearly explained, easy to apply and then comes my least favorite part of writing – editing. And editing takes the longest. Ask any writer and you’ll find this is true.
I’m looking at a tentative launch date for the beginning of next year and it will be perfect timing too as people will be on the New Years Resolution high.
This book will solve problems that millions of people have all over the world. There have been books and articles written on the subject, but so far, my research has shown that it’s superfluous, scattered, and just overwhelming with no real clear solutions.
My hope is to get to the core of the matter, come up with new innovate ideas and solutions, make sure they are easy to understand and apply, and more importantly make sure that they work. And I’m very confident I can do that. This project and everything about it is right up my alley and fits me like a T and I can’t wait till I finish the book so I can release it to the world.
