People fall into the trap of wanting the perfect picture in one fell sweep.

They want to get the perfect job with one fell swoop, the perfect mate, the perfect friends, the perfect business. And the appeal makes sense. It’s very “clean”.

But rarely does it work that way.

Take for example Google. The founders had no idea what kind of heavyweight it would become today. All they wanted was a better way to search.

Now they’re coming out with an iPhone killer, getting into local advertising, selling other various products direct to consumers/businesses, etc.

Apple had no idea back in the day that it would be all the rage today with iPhones, iPods, and the soon to be announced Tablet.

They never saw it coming.

Sure they would’ve liked to have all that at once, but it’s just too much to expect and it can’t happen all at once. It NEVER does.

If you expect the perfect picture all at once, in one fell swoop, I can guarantee you that you’re not taking any action.

Why?

BECAUSE THERE’S NO ACTION YOU CAN TAKE TO GET IT ALL AT ONCE.

You wait for that one big move, but it never appears and even if it does, it probably doesn’t go your way when you pursue it so it leaves you so discouraged that you never try again.

Get out of the thinking of where you just have to do this ONE BIG THING and you can get what you want in one fell swoop.

It’s not like that.

You get it by consistently taking action on your idea, little by little.

You just have to start. Do something. Do it well. And then watch it evolve.

Google just started with searching the web.

THAT’S IT.

THEY WANTED TO BE THE BEST DAMN SEARCH ENGINE ON THE PLANET.

They wanted to get relevant results to queries that were posted in their search engine box. Other search engines weren’t doing the job so they had to do it themselves.

Just that ONE thing – being the best at searching.

The rest is evolutionary history.

Let’s say you work at a job as a cashier for a local flower shop. You hate it. It’s monotonous. It’s boring. It’s not challenging at all.

But you have an idea - an idea on how to get more local people to come to the shop using the Internet. So you implement an idea here and there, fiddle around, and find great success with it and that leads you to a local internet marketing job – one that allows you freedom to work from home.

That’s the perfect job for you but it didn’t happen in the course of one day.

It happened over time.

It evolved.

The evolution of an idea is a very beautiful and exciting thing.

The more you do, the more the idea evolves and grows in different ways and directions, and the more it gives you pleasant surprises and leverage along the way.

Don’t fret about perfection.

Make mistakes. Get excited. Do a whole bunch of different things with regard to one idea.

Enjoy the evolution of it.

A good idea executed usually evokes other great ideas.

That’s what happened with this site. I just wanted to write articles that provided definitive answers to questions people had but never got really any great definitive answers to.

That’s it. That’s all I wanted to do.
